Face painting FAQs
Why is face painting important for kids?
Face painting can create truly special memories that last a life time and perfect photos that you can treasure forever. Not only this but but it’s also fantastic entertainment for birthdays, wedding, and any occasion that needs a bit of fun and sparkle. On top of all that fun, the process also helps foster interpersonal skills, spark discussion and make-believe play. It inspires creativity, storytelling, decision making and an interest in a new art form.
What age can a chid get face painted?
Three! Painting children under three is not advisable as they cannot fully appreciate it and are often a bit nervous of the process. They are also more liable to rub the paint in their eyes. For these reasons most face painting insurance companies don’t cover it.
How Long should face painting take?
This question depends greatly on the complexity of the design and how wiggly the model is! On average, quick designs can take around 3-5 minuets while longer designs can take up to 10.
How to take face paint off
Here are my top tips for removing face paint;
Gently scrape away any excess glitter with a paper card like this one
Wash your face with a cleanser or any mild face wash
If any pigment lingers on the skin, use oil, or make up remover and a cotton pad (baby oil, coconut oil and olive oil all work well!)
Clothes with face paint on them should be soaked in cold water before washing them normally.
How much does hiring a face painter cost?
Hiring a face painter in the UK costs between £100-£200 pounds for a typical two hour booking. The price will vary greatly based on where you are based and the experience level of the painter.
Can face painting be a job?
I’m incredibly pleased to say yes! Although many people face paint as a hobby there are plenty of us professionals that do it full time. So, although it may never make you a millionaire, if it’s something you are considering I will always encourage you because it’s one of the best jobs out there (ok, I know I’m a bit biased).
